The Last Call..

I was standing at a crowded train station when a tired-looking man approached me and asked to borrow my phone to call his wife. His voice carried a quiet urgency that made me hesitate, but something about his expression felt genuine. I unlocked my phone and handed it to him.

He stepped aside, spoke softly for less than a minute, and ended the call with a gentle “I love you.” When he returned the phone, he thanked me in a way that felt deeper than a simple favor, then disappeared into the crowd. Later, I noticed he had sent a blank message to his own number from my phone. It seemed odd, but I didn’t think much of it and moved on with my day.
