Passing by my husband, I spotted who was beside him: a girl around twenty, in skimpy denim shorts, vivid red lipstick, and lashes so long they looked fake. I’m not usually the jealous type, so I just thought, “Fine, let her sit there.”
But about thirty minutes later, I realized she was acting far too boldly. She leaned close while muttering, giggled at every word he said, though he answered only briefly.
Sometimes she “accidentally” brushed his hand, asked him to hand her water, or take her purse from beneath the seat. My husband stayed polite but clearly uninterested. All would have been harmless, except suddenly she stretched her long legs over the seat ahead—right near his face—like she was purposely displaying herself.

That was enough for me. I decided she needed a reminder. Ladies, have you ever faced something similar?
How did you react?
I rose, carefully strolled down the aisle with a plastic cup of coffee in my hand. When I reached their row, I smiled at my husband and kissed his cheek. At the same moment, I “unintentionally” miscalculated my movement.
— Oh dear… excuse me — I muttered softly, as a hot drop of coffee splashed onto her thigh. The girl shot up as if burned. — Are you insane?!
— she shouted so loudly that other passengers turned around. — These are brand-new shorts! Still keeping a calm smile, I answered:
— Yes, I noticed those shorts.
You’ve been showing them off the whole flight so it was impossible to miss. Maybe now you’ll sit a little more modestly? She devoured, grabbed sweatpants from her bag, and hurried to the restroom to change.
My husband gazed at me with an expression that said, “You’re unbelievable.” I sat back in my place and, for the first time during the trip, opened a magazine in peace.
