The grocery store was a kaleidoscope of mundane activity—the hum of the refrigeration units, the repetitive beep of the self-checkout scanners, and the shuffling rhythm of tired shoppers. I took the receipt with a quick nod, murmured a sincere “thank you,” and stuffed it into the side pocket of my tote bag without a second glance.
